Welcome to runFAR
The inclusive running blog where all are welcome.
RunFAR is the creation of Nikki Wisher (hi, it’s me), a runner who recently discovered a passion for the sport but couldn’t help but notice that the running community has a reputation for being a bit…uniform. As someone who myself doesn’t fit the mold of the stereotypical runner and who has many friends in the same boat, I realized that the running world could use more inclusive representation, more information about running in all different bodies, and more messaging that says “Hey, you! You belong here too!” That’s why runFAR (For All Runners) is here, and that’s why I’m thrilled that you’re here too!
What You’ll Find at runFAR
RunFAR is a destination for all the running tips and insights you might not find on most running channels and forums. While I do have plenty of content about topics that are of interest to all runners, my focus is on sharing helpful, educational, and positive information about running in diverse bodies and circumstances.
For beginner runners, plus-size runners, runners with disabilities, slow runners, or anyone else who might have different running experiences than the “typical” runner, my hope is to make runFAR a place where you’ll see yourself genuinely represented, learn how to make running more accessible to you, and be reminded that you are just as much of a runner as anyone else who enjoys this natural and beautiful sport that brings us all together.
About Nikki
Hey there, friends! Curious who’s behind the content you’re seeing on runFAR? Nice to meet you!
I’m a runner (shocking, I know) living in Atlanta who’s relatively new to the sport. I started running during the COVID pandemic when my husband convinced me to add a few running sections into our daily lunchtime walks. We started with a little 1/3 of a mile in February 2021, and I’ll be real with you, I struggled. Eventually, we added another 1/3 of a mile, then a little more and a little more.
Truthfully, I hated running at first and was sticking with it for my health, but somewhere along the line, it became…dare I say it?…fun! Cut to today, late 2023, I’ve now run races ranging from 5ks to full marathons, including two full marathons with (hopefully) more on the way.
As someone with a bigger body and as a slow runner who isn’t on a mission to become as fast as I can be, I found that aspects of my running journey aren’t often represented in running content. I’m a professional writer specializing in blog content, so I figured, why not add to the landscape of running content for other “non-standard” runners?
I’m so excited to join you all on this platform and connect with a broader community that shares this exciting sport/hobby/whatever role running plays in your life.
